“I don’t understand them.”

“My parents just don’t try to get to know me.”

“Am I going to lose my children to this culture?”

“They are stuck in the old way of thinking.”

“…and they won’t talk to me.”

“Why don’t they try to listen to me?”

The struggle between generations has been with us since the beginning of human history. The expectations of parents, fair or unfair, always exists. The desire for autonomy, gentle or violent, always exists.

What makes this tension even more pronounced is when parents and children essentially come from and belong to, two different worlds.

This is the focus of this 5Q segment. We’ve read lots of books, but we want to hear from our 5Q friends around the world about the joys and struggles of the immigrant parent and their children.

Join the 5QC and you’ll hear the responses from all over the world. Let’s see what we can discover together!

What do you think it all means?

We want to know your opinion and perhaps some good stories!
